Sports Performance Training at Podium Performance Physical Therapy

When PT Ends, the Work Doesn't Have To

You graduated from PT stronger. Now keep going. Performance training at Podium is clinician-led, gym-based programming inside Moses Fitness built to push you well beyond pain relief.

PT Ending Shouldn't Mean Starting Over

You're not sure how to train after rehab

PT discharge doesn't come with a long-term performance plan. Most people go back to training the way they did before and eventually end up back in pain.

Fear of re-injury is holding you back

You're back in the gym but you're not pushing it. You're second-guessing every rep and pulling back on movements that used to feel natural.

Personal training misses the clinical piece

A trainer can push you harder, but they can't assess movement quality or manage injury risk. Performance training at Podium gives you the clinical oversight personal training simply can't.

What Athletes Are Saying

Sam is amazing! I came to him less than two weeks out from running a marathon with extreme knee pain, and genuinely thought I wouldn’t be able to compete. He did so much hands-on work and analysis for me in such a short period of time. I was able to run pain-free, and I know that was definitely due to Sam. He prioritized my short-term goals while also making a long term plan. He’s so educational in his approach and it helped me better understand what I might be doing that causing all these micro issues for me. He had a whole tool kit of different methods, and it was really fun to try them out with him such as cupping and micro needling. I’m so thankful that he saved my race and has helped me put in an every day program to use so I can continue doing sports I love to do.

Sam exceeds my expectations of what it is I look for in a physical therapist. Having knee issues since I was a teen, I have seen my fair share of physical therapists and Sam’s patient experience, his demeanor and skills are second to none. Right away you can tell that Sam truly cares about you as an individual patient (and not just another acl repair, for example) and that he is passionate about physical therapy. In addition to helping me, he has worked with numerous members of my family and is even great with my daughter. I highly, highly recommend Sam and Podium Performance if you are looking for a physical therapist.

I injured my left shoulder via general overuse in August of 2024. I couldn't bench press, overhead press, or do push ups without serious pain. I even had pain in everyday life (getting out of bed, pulling clothes overhead, etc). The injury proved itself to be quite stubborn - after seeing another PT for months with no improvement, I was about to give up and accept that I would just have this limitation forever. I met Sam at the gym (Lifted in Hanover) in November of 2024 and decided to give him a shot after glowing reviews from others at the gym. I saw him weekly for a couple months and under his guidance and expertise, was back to doing what I used to in the gym with minimal pain in just a couple months. A few months after that I was totally pain free in everyday life, and I even was able to increase weight at the gym. Last month marks a year after my injury and I couldn't be happier with where I am today. I wish I had taken before and after videos because it is a night and day difference. If you have an injury that is stubborn to fix, I promise you Sam is your guy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Performance training is a newer concept for a lot of people. Here are the questions athletes typically ask before getting started.

How is this different from working with a personal trainer?

Performance training at Podium is clinician-led. Sam is a DPT and Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, so every session includes movement quality assessment, injury risk management, and objective strength testing not just progressive overload. You get the coaching of a trainer and the clinical judgment of a PT in the same session.

Do I need to be a current PT patient to start?

No. Performance training is open to anyone who wants clinician-led coaching. If you've had a recent injury, Sam may want to do a brief movement screen first but there's no requirement to complete a PT plan before you begin.

What does a typical session look like?

Sessions are one-on-one inside Moses Fitness. You'll work with Sam on strength, movement quality, and sport-specific progressions using the full gym floor barbells, turf, rowers, and whatever equipment fits your goals. Each session is built around your current programming and performance benchmarks.

How often do I need to come in?

That depends on your goals and training schedule. Most athletes start with one to two sessions per week and adjust from there. Sam will work around your existing gym schedule so the programming complements what you're already doing.

Is performance training covered by insurance?

Performance training is a cash-based service and is not covered by insurance. Pricing is transparent and we'll walk you through what to expect before you commit. We accept HSA and FSA as payment options.
